Since its inception in 1971, The Foundation Fighting Blindness has focused its efforts on “driving the research" that will provide preventions, treatments and cures for numerous eye diseases including retinitis pigmentosa (RP), macular degeneration, Usher syndrome, and retinal degenerative diseases, which together affect more than 10 million Americans of all ages. Over the years, FFB has raised over $450 million to support their cause.
FFB expands its efforts across the nation by holding VisionWalk events in dozens of cities. The Retinal Institute has been a major contributor to the Fort Wayne VisionWalk since its inaugural 2007 event. Through fundraising efforts, including “rummage” sales, silent auctions, book sales and bake sales to get staff involved, The Retinal Institute has created an excitement and passion in their offices for this cause. Over the course of 7 years, The Retinal Institute has raised over $145,000 for The Foundation Fighting Blindness.
